Mr Ian Hunt, BSc (Hons) MBBS MRCS FRCS (CTh), Director of the Rib Injury Clinic, is a Consultant Thoracic Surgeon and Clinical Lead, Department of Thoracic Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, St. George's Hospital NHS Trust and Spire St. Anthony's Hospital; Honorary Senior Lecturer at St. George's Medical School, University of London; and Honorary Consultant at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London.

Mr Hunt is a fellow or member of the following medical and professional societies:
General Medical Council (GMC), Royal College Surgeons of England (RCS), Society of Cardiothoracic of UK & Ireland (SCTS), European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS), Chest Wall International Group (CWIG), Chest Wall Injury Society (CWIG), & the Cardiothoracic Surgery Network (CTSNet).

Education & Training
Graduating with distinction from University College London (UCL) Medical School he completed his surgical training at the Hammersmith, St. Thomas' & Guy's and Harefield Hospitals. He was awarded a national travel scholarship and completed a minimal access thoracic surgery fellowship in Canada and the USA prior to joining St. George's Hospital in 2009. He was awarded the McCormack Medal coming first in the Royal College of Surgeons of England Cardiothoracic specialty examinations, FRCS(CTh).

Employment & leadership roles
Mr Hunt is actively involved in clinical teaching, training, education and research at undergraduate and postgraduate level. He regularly mentors consultant surgical colleagues from the UK and Europe in advanced chest keyhole techniques and treatment of pectus and chest wall problems. He leads the cardiothoracic trauma service at St. George's Hospital, regarded as one of Europe's premier major trauma centres and home of 24hours in A&E (Channel 4 productions). He lectures at national and international conferences and teaches on many courses. He has published over 120 papers in peer-reviewed journals, written reviews, authored over a dozen book chapters as well as editing a handful of text books and currently sits on several expert advisory boards.
